Google ditched for MSN Live
There are plenty of happy MSN fans out there who are worried that Google was taking both the market share, and the technology lead away from the software giant. Many people are left shocked by this decision from Amazon. Could this have stemmed from Google’s Book project and Google Base, and the fear that Google could one day take on Amazon's huge storefront?

(Page 1)2. Make no mistake - this move will cause A9 to lose users. My guess is Amazon went for it because the deal that Microsoft offered was much $weeter than Google's.
Bad move in the long run, if they want A9 to prosper as a search engine. MSN Live's results just aren't up to snuff.
Compare the results of a search for "payday loan", in Google and Live.com. The #1 result from live.com is a spammy redirect, and the rest of the results are simply inferior to Google's.

1. Microsoft is pushing hard with Live. For May 1st, Live.com was the 14th most popular site on the web. They are climbing fast for a new website and have phenomenal growth. They have the money to compete with Google and want to be the most popular search engine.
